2018 Conference Travel Grant Type 1 (Society of Wetland Scientists)

“I am a master’s student at the University of Connecticut studying the impacts of road salt on the structure and function of forested wetlands in southern New England. I am hoping to attend the Society of Wetland Scientists Conference in Denver, Colorado May 29th to June 1st, 2018. This will be the first major wetland conference I have attended thus far in my career and I am so excited for the opportunity. This conference will be an amazing chance to possibly present my research for the first time to an audience of wetland professionals, as well as, connect with wetland scientists from around the country and world. I am thrilled to be able to discuss wetland threats and issues around the world, in addition to the creative solutions and research people are doing to address them. I am also eager to take some field trips to get to explore wetlands in the Denver region, which I have never been to, and get to learn the different plant species and wetland types.”
