“The Conference Travel Grant Type II from The Wetland Foundation provided me with the opportunity to attend the Society of Wetland Scientists’ 2017 annual meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This was my first experience at an SWS meeting and it was incredible to learn about wetlands work that is being conducted all around the world. At the meeting, I presented my research entitled “Sediment and carbon dynamics in salt marshes of Plum Island Sound Estuary, MA.” Presenting my poster allowed me to discuss my research with other wetland ecologists examining carbon dynamics in salt marshes and to get invaluable feedback on how to enhance my project. I am also grateful that I could attend a field trip to the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, where I learned about their phenomenal coastal research, monitoring, and outreach programs and toured the mangrove forest. This meeting was extremely inspiring, insightful, and encouraging for my future in wetland science. I am so thankful for the support from The Wetland Foundation for providing me with such an amazing opportunity.”
