“The Wetland Foundation’s support allowed me to attend my first Ecological Society of America’s Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA in August of 2024. There, I presented work from the second chapter of my dissertation entitled “Response of Redox-Active Organic Matter Reduction to Long-Term Climate Change Manipulations within a Boreal Peatland.” This was my first time presenting my work to a broader ecological community as opposed to a more niche, biogeochemistry group. I was able to connect with others studying work across a broad range of different wetland types. I also became more engaged with the society’s biogeosciences section. My networking opportunities were so impactful here that I hope to return to this same conference in 2025 with an undergraduate student I mentored as I had such a positive experience. Attending this conference, however, would not have been possible without the Wetland Foundation whose generous support allowed full coverage of all costs for this conference.”
