From 2008-2015, we have awarded $50,000 in travel grants to students to attend wetland conferences and to conduct their field research (Awardees).  The additional support we receive from donors will allow us to make more student awards each year.

The Wetland Foundation is designated as a tax-exempt Private Foundation (501 (c) (3)) under the Internal Revenue Service Code. Contributions to The Wetland Foundation are tax-deductible under Section 170 of the IRS Code (click here for more information).  The Wetland Foundation is also qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devices, transfers, or gifts under Sections 2055, 2106, or 2522 of the IRS Code.

100% of individual donations will be used for student grants, and donors may specify which type of travel grant(s) or wetland focus they would like to support.

The Wetland Foundation received a generous donation from David Nieland (far left) in memory of his mother, Caroline Lucille Nieland. The donation was used to support a travel grant for a student studying wetland-related fisheries.

We recently received a generous donation from Mark Byrnes (middle), Senior Coastal Scientist, Applied Coastal Research and Engineering based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The donation will be used to support a travel grant for a student studying wetland geology-biogeochemistry.
